My Doula Suitcase
I use a variety of comfort aids to support birthing women. Not everything is used at every birth, but it's important to have these with me.
If I had only one 'thing' to bring to a birth, it would be my rebozo. Second, a TENS machine. Most valuable - my heart and hands.
hot pack, hot water bottle
metal reusable straw
cold gel pack
massage aids and oils
birthing music
hand held fan
battery operated candles
eye masks, ear plugs
plastic shower caps, hair bands/scrunchies, extra toothbrushes
inflatable neck pillows for the bath
Emergen-C powder for energy drink, ginger candies, honey
Labour Link - use for when pushing
Rebozo - I employ weavers in Laos who make the rebozos that my clients use. See: https://www.facebook.com/rebozosbyasiantribalwares/
Elle TENS machine - (option to rent at 37 weeks until the birth of your baby. Fee: $70. for my clients only)
Birthing ball
Herbal and homeopathic remedies - useful for a variety of situations such as positioning baby, prolonged labour, back pain, fear
Aromatherapy oils – to add to bath, on kleenex, in spritzer or diffuser
Bach Flower Remedies – assist with alleviating a wide range of emotional states to stabilize and reduce anxiety, fears, discouragement and other common states that occur in pregnancy & labor. In liquid, spray or lozenges. As a certified Bach Remedy Counselor, I have been successfully using these remedies since 1984. I am available for sessions to help you determine what remedies would be supportive for you.

“The whole point of woman-centered birth is the knowledge that a woman is the birth power source. She may need, and deserve, help, but in essence, she always had, currently has, and will have the power.” Heather McCue, childbirth educator
